Summary:

Assists the Director of Library Services by maintaining a pleasant, organized, and helpful environment in an academic library including evenings and Saturdays.

Responsibilities:

  • Checks in and out materials
  • Shelves, shelf-reads, weeds and organizes library materials
  • Processes new materials
  • Answers phone calls
  • Enters cataloging data into the library catalog
  • Enters new patron information to library database
  • Participates in Library Webinars, Zoom calls with other colleagues/students
  • Collects data and generates reports
  • Supports and assists students in locating library materials and research articles
  • Updates and generate content on Library sites and social media platforms
  • Creates guides, how-to articles, and other helpful tutorials
  • Supports technical issues with students and staff and helps resolve them
  • Escalates issues to certain departments including IMT, Facilities, and Security
  • Helps manage and enforce library standards, policies and procedures
  • Understands and follows all laws and policies that apply to one's job, and maintains the highest levels of professionalism, ethics and compliance at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Mac & PC required
  • Proficiency with standard office applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive)
  • Previous library experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge of alphabetic and numeric systems for classifying and organizing library materials
  • Experience or understanding of the following software products: Adobe, Photoshop, Avid, Media Composer, ProTools, Final Draft, Zbrush, Indesign, SketchUp, Movie Magic, Logic, etc.
  • Strong technical skills highly preferred
  • Demonstrated customer service experience
  • Strong problem solving, technical, and communication skills
  • Experience or understanding of HTML, WordPress, Springshare, or similar web-based applications
  • Ability to proactively complete time-sensitive project goals
  • Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with other team members
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and information with integrity and complete confidentiality
