Online Instructors and Support Staff are industry professionals, developing and teaching a curriculum that integrates technical knowledge with artistic exploration and creativity to provide an immersive learning experience for students. Our online learning environment utilizes interactive and web-based media with a variety of video content, project work and assignments, discussion boards, quizzes, instructor-led live sessions, and significant one-on-one student interaction. Online faculty and support staff are expected to provide supportive coaching and mentoring to students, helping students learn and grow throughout the program. This is a part-time, remote position. Must be located in California or Florida.


Seeking a TechKit Teaching Assistant (Online) to support our Digital Filmmaking TechKit Specialist in the management of student shipments and logistical oversight.


TechKit Teaching Assistant – The TechKit Teaching Assistant will play a big part in student success as the primary role of this position is to lend support to the TechKit Specialist in any shipping problems or equipment questions that arise. The ideal candidate has production experience and is technically skilled with cameras, lighting, and audio equipment. We are looking for candidates who have some teaching or instruction experience and a strong desire to work in education. The more versatile you are as a candidate, the better. LAFS is looking for a strong candidate who is knowledgeable in the area of filmmaking but is also well-rounded enough to step into other roles as needed.



Identify student TechKit issues and work to resolution.

  • This includes damage, missing parts, and questions as they arise.
  • Document issues from the online learning system, email, or Discord on a shared support log.

Ensure students complete tasks.

  • This includes completion of the TechKit Inventory Checklist, notification of missing equipment, and documentation of damaged equipment.

Request, monitor and input new TechKit orders.

Send out communication to students as needed.  

Monitor TechKit shipments.



  • Filmmaking

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate English communication abilities, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrate physical, visual, and auditory capacity to work on a computer and communicate effectively with students via telephone and computer
  • Demonstrate ability to lift and carry equipment up to 10 pounds

The Digital Filmmaking Bachelor of Science degree program is a 120-semester credit hour degree program that is delivered 100% online through our unique Learning Management System (LMS)'a secure web-based platform that employs modern multimedia technologies and is accessible 24 hours a day via the Internet. Online students use this system to view video content, receive and submit project work and assignments, take tests and quizzes, communicate with instructors and classmates, and review grades and course progress. Our online learning environment utilizes the combination of interactive and web-based media to create a variety of instructional materials in support of dynamic, self-directed, and collaborative learning activities. These activities can provide students with a more diverse range of learning options and promote more meaningful collaboration between students and instructors.
