The Los Angeles Film School, a leader in entertainment arts education, is seeking candidates for the position of Web Developer. The Los Angeles Film School is an accredited college that specializes in entertainment and media arts education. Our campus is located in the heart of Hollywood with over 250,000 square feet of state-of-the-art classrooms and equipment.  We offer a unique and fast-paced teaching and learning environment for our faculty and students. 

The role is responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites, from layout to function and according to department specifications. Strive to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
  • Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
  • Create and maintain software documentation
  • Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling our site
  • Maintaining and upgrading existing systems as required
  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure team and developers to produce new systems
  • Add new functionality to systems

 

Experience:

  • Proven working experience in web programming
  • Familiarity with at least one of the following programming languages: PHP, ASP.NET, Javascript  
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
  • Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development
  • Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process
  • Research and evaluate new technologies/strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets with business acumen
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.
  • Develops solution by preparing and evaluating alternative workflow solutions.
  • Desired: understanding of Powershell and database knowledge via SQL.

 

Web Developer Skills and Qualifications:

JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, Web Programming Skills, E-Commerce, Teamwork, Verbal Communication, cross-browser compatibility, Web User Interface Design (UI), Security Principles, Object-Oriented Design, Web Services (REST/SOAP), Multimedia Content Development, API's, Mysql, and T-SQL scripting

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree strongly recommended
  • At least 2 years' experience in Web Development.
